Nori’s first opened its doors in 1989 with a simple mission: to deliver healthy, organic, and locally grown and produced foods to the greater Saranac Lake community. In 2019, we will celebrate our 30th birthday. We’ve made a lot of changes over the last three decades, but we remain steadfast in our commitment to nourish mind, body, and spirit with products that are

environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.

From our humble roots as a small storefront in the Masonic Lodge building on Broadway to our move to Main Street in the old Sears building, Nori’s has grown to become a mainstay of the downtown Saranac Lake business community.

In 2015, we moved to our new location at the corner of Church and Woodruff streets with a vision of revitalizing a long-neglected commercial space on the banks of the Saranac River. We completed an extensive environmental clean-up that enabled us to secure future financial investments — investments that make way for us to create a clean, customer-friendly space.

To date, our ownership team has invested over $1 million in the expansion project. We’ve also used a $30,000 matching grant from the Village of Saranac Lake Main Street Program in a renovation completed in 2017. This year we received a $50,000 grant from the Cloudsplitter Foundation, and a $10,000 gift from a local supporter, Tom Boothe. We’re inspired by and grateful for the generosity of these organizations and individuals. Even with these amazing investments, we still need more to get to the finish line.

This is where you come in. In the coming months, our goal is to raise a total of $250,000 from the community to complete our project. This is about so much more than our bottom line — it’s about enhancing Church Street and the continued growth of an institution that provides jobs, gives back to the community, and generates business for the rest of downtown Saranac Lake.
